My name is Nev Jackson. I learned to play banjo more than 30 years ago. Since then, I have taught hundreds of people of all ages to play this wonderful instrument.

Learning to play the banjo is both genuine fun and a rewarding experience. The fact is, however, that learning to play the banjo takes commitment. Like anything else — it takes time and dedication to succeed. How much time? Do you have 30 minutes each day for practice? I'm betting you do!

There are a number of instructional materials available today for home learners. But if you truly want to be adept at banjo “pickin,” you need a good teacher. That’s where I can help you with this website. You can hear, see and understand how to get going on the five string banjo.

You'll start playing slowly, then learn to speed up. It's natural. It's like driving a car. You have to learn the fundamentals behind the wheel before you can go highway speeds.

My experienced instruction, along with my book, tab music and videos, will help you to truly have fun as you study at your own pace. In the privacy of your own home you can review any material as many times as you want. You'll be systematically learning many techniques that you'll need to become a proficient banjoist. One day you'll be able to play blazing leads that turn heads and bring out smiles in your audience.
